Santhosh Vadivelu joined Canaan’s Menlo Park office in 2008 with the firm’s healthcare team. He primarily focuses on the firm’s healthcare investment efforts and in identifying strategic opportunities within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical devices industries. Being an entrepreneur at heart and a scientist by training, Santhosh is passionate about identifying scientific opportunities and innovation-driven healthcare companies that improve patient care.
Santhosh joined Canaan from Heller Ehrman, LLP where he was a scientific advisor and a registered patent agent admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to moving to bay area, Santhosh spent time at Forest Laboratories, Inc. NY and at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, NY, conducting experiments in human genome DNA replication and microarrays.
Santhosh holds a Ph.D in biochemistry from Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pathologie GmbH (IMP), Vienna, Austria, where his research focused on genetic engineering, stem cells and cancer pathways. He also earned an M.Sc in Life sciences from Bharathidasan University, India, specializing in Biotechnology.
