Gil Canaani attributes his understanding of technology to his service in an elite technological unit of the Intelligence Corps in the Israeli Defense Forces. Gil brought his skills to Canaan's Israel office in 2011, where he focuses on Israeli investments in the technology sector. Gil is the Managing Director of the Young Venture Capitalists Forum (YVCF) that serves the professional network of the young Israeli venture capital community.
Gil is highly active in the Israeli startup community, managing Start-Up Stadium, the largest Israeli online startup community with over 35,000 members. He is an Advisory Board Member at StartHub, the Tel-Aviv Academic College entrepreneurship accelerator. Gil is a frequent guest lecturer and panelist at BizTec, 3DS, StartTAU, 8200 EISP, StartHub and other forums.
With his passion for travel, Gil was a co-founder of a mobile travel services startup, bridging language barriers using mobile technology. Previously, Gil worked in marketing and in R&D for AudioCodes (Nasdaq: AUDC), which provide networking VoIP products and infrastructure. As Marketing Project Manager for AudioCodes, he led offshore product development, new joint ventures and product launch.
Gil earned his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and a B.A in Computer Sciences from Tel Aviv-Yaffo Academic College. In July 2012, with the endorsement of Canaan Partners, Gil was admitted to Class 17 of the Kauffman Fellows Program, Centre of Venture Education, Palo Alto, CA.
