Hrach Simonian joined Canaan’s Technology team in January 2007. He focuses on the firm’s digital media & communications and enterprise software & services investment efforts. He has worked on Canaan’s investments in Kabam, Associated Content, Zoosk, PrimeSense, Tremor Video, Cardlytics, Switchfly, Plixi, Zuberance, SandForce, Ebates, onefinestay and Instacart.
Prior to joining Canaan, Hrach served as the digital media Research Associate at Rutberg & Company. The research groups coverage spanned product and technology categories, including semiconductors, devices, infrastructure, and services. Previously, Hrach held several positions at Northrop Grumman and TRW in the solid state laser research & development department conducting experiments in high power laser research and beam manipulation.
Hrach holds an MBA from Stanford School of Business and served as a co-president of the VC club. Previously, he earned an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where his research focused on neuronal networks, linear systems analysis, and solid-state lasers. He also earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA specializing in biomedical engineering.
